DR. RORY MORRIS BUTLER
MBBS MRCPsych FRANZCP
Dr Rory Morris-Butler is a psychiatrist and an ex-British Army Medical Officer who deployed to Afghanistan in 2013. He undertook his Bachelor of Medicine at Norwich Medical School, Norwich, England. In 2017, he completed postgraduate specialist training in psychiatry and gained membership to the Royal College of Psychiatrists (United Kingdom) through the South London and Maudsley training scheme.
As a clinical psychiatrist, Dr Morris-Butler has treated civilians and military patients across acute inpatient, medium secure unit PICU, community, liaison and occupational settings. After moving to Australia in 2018 and joining the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), he worked at the Bentley Mental Health Service, covering three teams: the Acute Treatment Team (ATT), the Community Treatment Team (CTT), and the Community Support and Rehabilitation Program (CSRP). He then worked as a Senior Registrar, providing rural and remote psychiatric support to the Kununurra District Hospital and surrounding communities of East Kimberley. Dr Morris-Butler founded Soul Medicine VAR and leads its team of highly experienced psychiatrists to deliver the highest level of veteran-led clinical care to veterans.
Dr Morris-Butler has a special interest in military psychiatry and extensive experience supporting veterans' mental health and wellbeing. He attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and was a Commissioned Officer in the British Army Medical Corps for 12 years before moving to Australia in 2018. Dr Morris-Butler is compassionate and empathetic and can understand what his patients have experienced in the military. While deployed to Afghanistan, he provided life-saving trauma and primary health care to soldiers, local troops and policemen. Dr Morris-Butler has significant knowledge and expertise in the Statements of Principles (SoPs) used in determining claims for liability for injuries, diseases and deaths under both the Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986 (VEA) and the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 (MRCA).
Passionate about education, Dr Morris-Butler mentors psychiatrists less familiar with the military environment and teaches medical students and military nursing staff to upskill them with best practice military psychiatry. His published research is listed below.

Dr Ingrid Butterfield
FRANZCP. MHM. BMBS. B.Com.
Since earning her Fellowship in 2011, Ingrid has held clinical leadership positions in both the Australian Capital Territory and Victoria, working across public and private sectors. She has dedicated over 11 years to providing assessments and treatments to rural-based patients throughout Australia via telehealth, including numerous Defence Force veterans.
Before embarking on her medical career, Ingrid worked in the Australian Public Service with the Department of Defence, which ignited her enduring interest in military service. This passion was underpinned by family history connections to the military, including three out of four grandparents who saw wartime service.
Ingrid holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, along with a Fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry. Her academic journey also includes a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Health Management, and she is currently pursuing post-graduate studies in Sleep Medicine at the University of Oxford.

Dr William Redvers Ackers
MBBS FRANZCP
Will was born into a family that held public service as a core value, shaping his worldview from a young age. He grew up traveling the world, following his father's work with UNICEF, which instilled in him a deep sense of purpose. Initially, he trained to be a doctor in the UK, drawn by the potential for travel and the impact he could make through medicine.
After moving to New Zealand, Will transitioned to psychiatry, a choice that allowed him to reconnect with the humanity he felt was diminishing in traditional medical practice. He is particularly passionate about working with Australian Defence Force personnel, identifying with their values and resilience.
In his role at Soul Medicine, Will finds great fulfillment in supporting those who have bravely served their country. He is dedicated to helping them navigate their challenges and reclaim their lives, honouring the sacrifices they have made in service to others.

Gregory Keane
BMED, FRANZCP, MPH
After working as a psychiatrist in Australia and the UK, Greg began working for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in 2014. He served for ten years in conflict and post-disaster zones, including in Iraq, Afghanistan, the West Bank, Gaza, Yemen, Jordan, as well as locations in southern and western Africa. Greg continues to volunteer in an advisory capacity on mental health issues for people affected by conflict and disaster for the World Health Organisation and MSF.
Having worked in conflict zones and challenging contexts over his career, Greg has a strong interest in working with military veterans and active service members. He aligns closely with Soul Medicine's values and actions, and loves being able to put his skills and experience in understanding, supporting and working with veterans.

Matthew Seaburne-May
MBBS FRANZCP
Dr Seaburne-May qualified as a Psychiatrist in the UK having trained at South London and Maudsley, and after working in the NHS for many years came to Western Australia and worked in a variety of public hospitals and clinics. Dr Seaburne-May has close family members across the three main branches of the British Armed Forces. His approach is informed by working with veterans of many nationalities who have experienced a wide variety of conflicts.

Dr David Chang
MBBS MRCPSYCH, FRANZCP, BSC
David is a psychiatrist with more than 18 years of specialist experience working with complex mental health conditions. Born and raised in London, he completed his medical training at King’s College London before undertaking several years of competitive specialist psychiatry training within the NHS, including at South London and Maudsley and South West London and St George’s. David has worked as a consultant psychiatrist for over a decade.
During his career in the UK, David worked across a range of highly specialised settings, including forensic inpatient units and has extensive experience preparing forensic psychiatric assessments and reports.
After ten years working in the NHS, David relocated to Perth, where he now practises in both public and private settings.
David has close family members who have served in the Australian and British Armed Forces, he has developed a strong interest in assessing and supporting serving members and veterans. He values the opportunity to contribute his expertise to this community and aligns closely with Soul Medicine’s mission and approach.

IAN MOORE
Originally from the UK, Ian’s 30-year career in community services has been driven by a strong sense of social justice. He began working in disability and residential care for children before moving into child protection in 2004, shortly after emigrating to Australia. For the last 20 years, Ian has held several senior management and executive positions where he has led large, multidisciplinary teams working in child protection, child sexual assault treatment, disability, mental health and addiction disorders. Prior to starting his private consultancy in late 2024, Ian was employed as Chief Operating Officer at Richmind WA, Western Australia’s largest community mental health provider.
In his spare time, Ian enjoys spending time with family and friends and is a long-term Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner and coach. With a deep interest in contemporary leadership practice, Ian is also an active, published researcher in this field and an experienced non-executive director for social impact organisations.
Joining the team as a consultant in January 2005, Ian assists Soul Medicine VAR with a variety of governance and strategy related projects. He holds a Diploma in Health, Bachelor of Science, Postgraduate Certificate in Developmental Trauma, and a Master of Business Leadership.

With a strong background in administration, Charlette plays a vital role on the team, offering both professional assistance and a personal dedication to veterans' well-being. Her mission is to help each veteran navigate their journey toward healing and improved mental health with empathy, efficiency, and unwavering support.

Wayne has been with Soul Medicine since its inception, playing a vital role in helping Dr. Rory Morris Butler establish the practice from the ground up. With a hands-on approach, he is deeply involved in managing administrative processes related to the DVA, supporting veterans, and working closely with advocates. Wayne's compassionate nature and steadfast commitment to providing exceptional support are evident in his work, as he strives to ensure that veterans receive the guidance and care they deserve throughout their DVA claims journey.

Joy plays a key role behind the scenes at Soul Medicine, providing essential administrative and accounts support that keeps the practice running smoothly. With a focus on streamlining processes, she ensures that both the team and veterans experience efficient, seamless interactions. Dedicated to assisting her colleagues and consistently upholding the highest standards of care for veterans, her commitment reinforces Soul Medicine's mission to deliver exceptional, quality service to those who have served.
Jade
Jade is a compassionate Registered Nurse with experience across aged and community care. She began her nursing journey in 2021 as an Assistant in Nursing at just 17 years old, where she developed a strong passion for supporting older people and delivering person-centred care.
Jade completed her Diploma of Nursing in 2022 before graduating with a Bachelor of Nursing from Southern Cross University in 2025. She has also worked closely with veterans, providing holistic support in collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Inspired by her grandfather’s service, Jade is proud to combine clinical knowledge with genuine care to support those who have served.
