Underlying causes and contributors

The reasons why someone might think about ending their life are varied and complex, but it is usually when:

  • The burden of their emotional pain feels unbearable
  • They feel their loved ones would be better off without them
  • They see no other way forward

Research has shown that every year, around 400,000 Australians experience suicidal thoughts. If you are feeling like there is no other way forward it’s important to know that you are not alone and there are effective supports available to help you through this.
