Our Healing Process:
What to Expect at Soul Medicine VAR

OUR-4 STEP PROCESS

Once Soul Medicine VAR has received your DVA assessment request, you will receive an email with appointment times with your assigned nurse and psychiatrist. You must accept both of these appointments via the link in the email.

If you are unable to make one of the assigned times, you can decline that appointment, and you’ll receive the next available time slot after the time that was originally provided. You will receive another email to accept the new appointment time. Please ensure you accept it to confirm.

Appointments are assigned automatically to the next available with your assigned practitioners. If you are having any problems with the allocated times, please contact admin@soulmedicinevar.com.au

Two days (48 hours) before your onboarding appointment, you will receive an email appointment reminder and a link to two questionnaires. Do not complete these before your appointment.

Your onboarding appointment allows you to ask in-person questions about your assessment and allows our team to explain how to complete the assessment questionnaires. This appointment lasts approximately 20-40 minutes.

After your onboarding appointment, you will complete your assessment questionnaire in your own time in the comfort of your home. This must be completed at least 7 days before your psychiatrist appointment. This is very important to give your psychiatrist accurate information.
Your appointments will be scheduled far enough apart for you to complete the assessment questionnaire between your appointments.

Two days (48 hours) before your psychiatrist appointment, you will be sent an appointment reminder with a link to another questionnaire. This must be completed 24 hours before your psychiatrist appointment. This is very important for your DVA assessment.

The questions in the questionnaires are similar and should be answered based on how you feel at the time of completing each questionnaire. This will allow your psychiatrist to accurately assess how you are feeling.

Your psychiatrist telehealth appointment takes around 60-90 minutes and will focus on your specific concerns. In the appointment, your psychiatrist will ask questions to understand your symptoms and causes. Try to give them the best picture of your experiences so that they can help you as much as possible.

Your psychiatrist will use the information you give them and validated screening tools to make the DVA assessment. This will guide evidence-based recommendations for your treatment, which may include biological and psychological treatment options.

Please bring any past medical reports or investigations to your appointment, for example, blood tests, electrocardiogram (ECG) reports, brain imaging reports (not images), psychological testing reports and specialist reports.

If you feel more comfortable having a family member or carer at your appointment, they are welcome to attend.

After your DVA assessment is completed, Soul Medicine VAR will send the treatment recommendations back to your referring general practitioner (GP) or nurse practitioner and can recommend appropriate treatment providers based on your needs.

Once this has occurred, your referring GP will contact you to talk about what steps you can take to move forward.
